Treasure Trap
1991: 89
Isometric puzzle games were numerous on the 8-bit micros, but Treasure Trap represents a rarity on the Amiga.Spectrum owners will remember Head Over Heels, Knight Lore and Batman, three isometric games that all proved quite popular, but with the advent of the 16-bit machines, that genre seemed to disappear. This is one exception to that, which was apparently the main reason it made the 1991 list. You control a deep-sea diver who must find keys and gold while maintaining a good supply of oxygen in a shipwreck known as the Esmeralda. It's a straightforward affair, though you do need the keyboard for a few actions. As the list suggests, it's a bit of a throwback, so it's a nice change of pace to the kind of games you tend to see on the Amiga. Cadaver is a more well-known (and complicated) isometric game, but this is certainly worth a look.
