276: Base Jumpers

Base Jumpers
1996: 100

And here we go: 1996 has showed up, with its basement placement earning it a solitary point, which still places it above sixteen others in my list (including the twice-listed Golden Axe).

Base Jumpers sees you jumping upwards through a building, bouncing past security guards and various hazards, in a bid to reach the top and jump with a parachute. One of the main draws of the game is the multiplayer element: four players can race each other to the top of the building, then jostle during the descent towards the ground. The first to the top and the last to pull their 'chute gets a bonus.

The review in Amiga Power summed up the issue with this game: the single-player game isn't substantial enough, and the multiplayer game doesn't have enough lives to keep it going. So, if you can find a few friends to play with, it makes for a fun time, and it's certainly an unusual concept. I suppose there just isn't a lot of depth to the game.
