Fantasy World Dizzy

Dizzy has appeared in many games over the years, especially on 8-bit platforms like the ZX Spectrum. The Amiga still managed to get prettier-looking ports of most of them, and Amiga Power decided that this was the one they would pick.

The format for the Dizzy games is generally the same: jump around various static screens, collecting items and using them to progress to new stages, occasionally talking to people in the process. This is the third such adventure from the Oliver Twins, and quite a large one for the time. The Amiga version is cute and captures the charm of the 8-bit versions well. If you like adventuring and solving puzzles, it's worth a look.

I was a massive Dizzy fan, being a ZX Spectrum owner myself, so obviously I'm pleased to see at least one of the series make the list. As the magazine makes clear, though, you could acquire several other games in the Dizzy Collection along with this one, and that would have certainly been a good deal at the time. Of course, the 8-bit versions play just as well as this.
