Arcade ports were all the rage back in the day, and the Amiga hosts quite a few dodgy ones. How about Capcom's notoriously difficult platformer?

It's clear to see why this made the list, at least in 1991, as it manages to get the feel of the arcade original across quite well. The controls are pretty tight and responsive, but interestingly the music is not a rendition of the toe-tapping coin-op's main theme, but a more atmospheric selection by Tim Follin. Speaking of the controls, having no separate jump button can be an issue, especially if you need to fire upwards (I'm not sure it's possible to do without jumping), but given the way Ghouls 'n Ghosts works, it's not that big of a deal.

I have to confess that I've never really played any version of this game series, but if I had an Amiga at the time and wanted to try this entry, I think it would suit nicely. Nowadays both the original and the Mega Drive version are easily playable, so there may be little need to return to it, but it's a great effort regardless.
