Our first coin-op conversion, and it's a 1987 effort from Atari Games. Obviously it appeared on various platforms aside from the Amiga, though as usual, this is arguably where it translates best.

The original game is an interesting concept, using a pseudo-3D perspective as you run down corridors, shooting Xybots and collecting power-ups. The inclusion of a cooperative two-player mode really adds to the fun. The Amiga port brings the action home very effectively, with very little detail lost. The only real gripe is that the arcade uses animation when turning your character round, while the Amiga just cuts to the new angle. This makes it a bit less comfy to navigate, but it's a small thing.

It's an arcade game, so it might not have the lasting appeal of more complex games in the Amiga's back catalogue. Nevertheless, you might be surprised by how playable Xybots is, and it was clearly ahead of its time, being a sort-of proto third-person shooter. Plug in a second joystick and grab a friend, and I think you'll find it's a nice addition to your Amiga collection.
