The first of two adaptations of Games Workshop board games, this one sees fantasy characters go dungeon crawling in a turn-based fashion.
In case you've never played the board game, you control a choice of a barbarian, a dwarf, an elf or a wizard, and enter a dungeon-like place with different rooms to explore, secret doors and treasure to find, and fantasy creatures to battle against. The computer version follows the board game closely, as you roll a random number of squares to move, and usually need to find the exit or accomplish some task. There is a campaign mode of sorts, as you can collect money which can be used between games to purchase items.

Just like the second Games Workshop adaptation (which we'll see much later), this is a solid rendition of the board game, and simple to play solo, although perfectly playable with others. Even today it can be good to go back to, as there isn't much that's exactly like it. If you thought D&D was too extreme, this should whet the appetite.
