His name is Rick, and he likes dangerous situations, like jumping over spikes, shooting natives and laying dynamite.
When it comes to pure platforming, Rick Dangerous does the trick. In many ways, it's like a precursor to games like Super Meat Boy, in that you're often faced with a tricky predicament, and need a specific method to get through it, making repeated attempts necessary. The difference, of course, is that you have a limited amount of lives, which is the main difference with games of today. Rick can shoot bullets and drop dynamite, but he has a limited supply of both which need replenishing throughout the level.

I do like a bit of Rick Dangerous, but I think it's more fun if you can get infinite lives, because even then you're not going to breeze through it. The game requires a great deal of skill and repetition, and removing the lives problem means you can at least pass through checkpoints and work your way to the end. It's still very satisfying this way, and a lot less frustrating. Definitely a game to try.
