It's surprising that, in 1995, the Amiga Power team chose a 1990 RPG based on a C64 original from two years prior - so much so that I thought it might have been an error. Regardless, this is Pool of Radiance.

The game plays similarly to other RPGs of the time, going back to The Black Onyx. You create a character, or characters, in the same way as a typical D&D game (it's based on Advanced Dungeons & Dragons). Exploration of your surroundings takes place in a first-person view, stepping though the environment, until you encounter an enemy, whereupon the view switches to a top-down perspective. Your immediate goal is to clear out a nearby slum of violent creatures, thereby levelling up your party, before embarking on a quest in the wider region.

I was genuinely confused by this choice. Amiga Power didn't review the game in their inaugural issue, unlike a whole heap of other releases from the time, and contemporary reviews were moderately positive at best, so the decision to add it as late as 1995 is perplexing. It's very old-fashioned RPG stuff, so I'd give it a miss, but maybe it'll be good for a bit of nostalgia.
