The new generation of computers made genuine 3D experiences possible, and Interphase blends smooth 3D environments with a 2D puzzle aspect in a truly unique way.
You are Chad, who has infiltrated the building of the DreamTrack Corporation with your partner Kaf-E. She is tasked with making her way up to the top of the building to retrieve Chad's compromised DreamTrack and exit safely. You, on the other hand, use a device called the Interphase to mess with the building's security system, allowing Kaf-E to pass unhindered. The Interphase is represented by an abstract 3D landscape, where real-life doors are green cubes and security cameras are red pyramids. You can receive messages from Kaf-E whenever she encounters a problem, but make sure your virtual craft has enough energy to survive attacks from virtual enemies.

I got an Atari ST for Christmas 1990, not having my own Amiga until the late 90s, but one thing I remember well was receiving with it a copy of ST Format containing this game in full on disk, and it certainly had an impression on me. I suppose a game like this could be vaguely possible on my old ZX Spectrum, but to see the colour and speed on this new machine was exhilarating. Playing it today, it's pleasant to find that it's actually a very playable game, especially once you get the hang of the controls. The difficulty curve is just right, throwing new challenges at you with every stage. An unusual game, and one that is certainly worth trying today.
