Here's the second Games Workshop board game adaptation in the list, and it was clearly more highly regarded, since it crept into 1993's list after featuring above HeroQuest in 1992.Taking charge of a team of Space Marines, you must enter a series of spaceships, armed with bolters and heavy weapons, to exterminate as many aliens as you can while accomplishing certain missions. As with the board game, it is a turn-based affair, playing extremely close to the original. The only real changes are that the computer always controls the aliens, and a few small details like the ships having bigger doors and more complex layouts. It's obviously easier to set up than the real thing, and provides a good tactical challenge.
I loved the board game but was seldom able to find people to play with - not a problem here. I played the PC version of this a lot in the past, and it's a lot of fun: aside from the more complex ship designs, you can even open an airlock and watch the vacuum of space engulf the ship. It's certainly worth checking out if you fancy some turn-based board game action.
