After Dungeon Master, there were various games adopting a similar first-person perspective, and Captive was one of the more notable releases.
You are being held captive in prison, but manage to acquire a briefcase computer which gives you control over four 'droids'. You don't know where you are, so you command the droids to land on planets in a bid to find and rescue you. They need to find generators in different bases to destroy them, and will encounter various enemies along the way. The game is played in real time, but the focus is more on managing your droids' inventory and solving puzzles, rather than struggling to defeat your foes.

I played a coverdisk demo for the Atari ST way back when, but the full game is a lot more involved - apparently the bases are generated algorithmically like in Elite, so there are thousands of potential configurations. Does this give the game lastability? Maybe, but it's certainly worth checking out as one of the few Dungeon Master clones that takes a more sci-fi route, and certainly presents a challenge.
