More flight simulator action, this time from a helicopter's perspective.
With a flashy animated (and voiced) intro, ThunderHawk promises much, and as is often the case with flight simulators of the time, the game doesn't try to bog you down with the details. Instead, you choose a mission from the War Room, get a briefing on your latest assignment, and load up your chopper. Control is very simple and intuitive, being controllable with the mouse as well as a joystick. Moving a helicopter around is a different experience to flying a jet, but it doesn't take long to get to grips with it. There are lots of missions to tackle, and the 3D action is some of the fastest seen on the stock Amiga 500, so it was certainly worth playing at the time.

It didn't take me long to control my helicopter, and blowing up ground targets was simple, but I came a cropper when fighter planes started flying in to take me out. Maybe I need more practice, but fast moving air-to-air targets are quite tricky with a floaty blob with limited range of movement. With a bit more playing, I can see this being a fun game - not very complex for newbies, but with enough missions to keep you interested.
