Chuck Rock II: Son of Chuck
1993: 66

It's Chuck Rock, but not as we know it, as the caveman's offspring takes centre stage for some more platforming goodness.
After Chuck had to rescue his wife Ophelia in the first game, now Chuck Jr has to rescue his dad - yes, it's not the most original plot, it must be said, but platform games don't tend to worry about such things. The son of Chuck is merely an infant, so his moveset is even more limited than that of his father: he wields a large club, with which he can hit various objects. There's not much more to it, as you journey through levels collecting sweets and fighting off bad guys.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why this replaced its predecessor in the 1993 list, as it's not exactly better - in some ways, I would say it's inferior. The light puzzle mechanic of the first game appears to have gone, and while Chuck could throw boulders around to get to new places, his son can just hit things with a big stick. This includes rocks, which don't seem nearly as common in this game. Without that mechanic, it just feels like a standard platform game, so I'm not sure I can recommend players to go back to it now.
