The Lost Treasures of Infocom
1995: 87

A list of essential games from an 80s computer would not be complete without some interactive fiction, and the 1995 list gave us a collection from the most renowned of text adventure publishers, Infocom.
This is cheating a little bit, since it's not actually one game but a whopping twenty: celebrated titles like the Zork series and the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy sit alongside more obscure entries such as the Lurking Horror and Moonmist. Interactive fiction is certainly an acquired taste, but for those who enjoy it, these games will be as enjoyable to play today as they were decades earlier.

I can't admit to being an expert in this kind of thing - Hitchhiker's is the only one I played with any seriousness back in the day - but the irony of the complete lack of graphics is that they haven't aged at all, and if you've never tried one, you really should. One thing to note for anyone wanting to pop the disk files into your computer or emulator: you can't just boot into them, you need to run them through Workbench. Not a big problem provided you have a Workbench disk to use, but I feel like it's worth mentioning. Of course, if you have a hard disk, you can then copy all the games into a single folder and have it even easier.
