If you like football, but find football management sims a bit dry, this might be right up your alley.

In this World Cup Edition, you take charge of a national team, starting either in the World Cup itself or qualifying for it. You have to manage your team, but the game differs vastly from other offerings in that, rather than resembling a spreadsheet, it tells a beautifully graphical story of your team, as they develop and interact in various ways, both on and off the pitch. The in-game action is perhaps a little simpler than other management games, with less focus on formations and tactics, but this may be exactly what appeals to some.

I must confess I barely played this, since I could guess how a footy management sim was going to go (I've mentioned previously that I'm no good with them), but I do feel like I might be missing out, because the reviews paint a very pretty picture of the appeal of this game. Five disks, so play with WHDLoad if you can, and AGA will give you nicer pictures, but it's not a deal breaker.
