The Amiga Power team's favourite golf game fluctuated over time, and although this isn't the most loved one in this list, Nick Faldo's Championship Golf was anything but sub-par.
Breaking from golfing game tradition, this game utilises a more complex way of striking the ball: instead of the typical three-tap sequence of start, set power, set accuracy, here you set the power before taking your shot, but need only tap two times for accuracy. You must tap twice in quick succession within a small area, and the size of the area is dictated by the club you have chosen and the lie of the ball. It is an interesting system that also gives you the option of hitting a 'wrist' shot with extra power, and applying hook or slice to the ball simply through the timing of your mouse clicks. The developers decided to remove this aspect for the CD32 release, going back to the more usual system.

If I were you, I would go for the original game over the CD32 version, because once you've got the hang of the weird system, it actually works rather well. Only gripes with the game from my side is the lack of a caddy selecting the most appropriate club for you, and the fact you have to look up the yardage for your clubs in the manual, an unforgivable oversight in a 16-bit game. Still, there's a reason the Amiga Power boys liked it - though I could do without the snide comments from your golfing companion that you must endure when you hit it into the rough.
