This Asteroids-style game only appeared in the 1994 list, and is the highest-ranked game from that year to only appear in that list. Perhaps the team got tired of it sooner than expected?
The original concept of Asteroids, dating back to the earliest days of arcade video games, was clearly a sound one, as this is not the first game to take the idea and expand on it. The game follows the same basic premise of Asteroids, with the difference that your weapon fires multiple shots, and the rocks take more than one hit to break apart. Not only that, but other spaceships appear later in the game to get in your way, and you can collect power-ups to improve your own ship. The reason the game only featured in the 1994 list is because it was replaced in the following lists by an improved version, Super Stardust, which of course will feature later in this list.

Should I talk much about this, since eventually I'll have to talk about Super Stardust? Okay, I'll keep it brief. I like the game, it's a simple idea but with just enough extra to be a fun diversion. Not the deepest game in the list, but this is certainly one that is good to just pick up and have a blast.
