War in the Gulf

It is the early nineties, so naturally the Gulf War is fresh in everyone's minds. Sounds like a good setting for an action-strategy game.
Taking the same engine from the earlier Team Yankee and Pacific Islands, you command a team of tanks, tasked with various missions in the Iraq/Kuwait area. You control your team through a combination of first-person viewports and top-down maps, and your mastery of both elements are key to victory. Once you get used to the unusual format, the game provides a fast-paced and complex challenge.

Here we have one of a number of games in this list that looked like too much effort to bother with. Having 300 games to get through means I was never likely to learn the key combinations and strategic prowess that would make this game enjoyable, so I'll just have to take the word of the Amiga Power team on this one. Alas, this entry replaced Pacific Islands in 1996, so I'll have to take a look at that later on, too.
