An old-fashioned game that nevertheless made five appearances, Kid Gloves shows that classic 8-bit action could still be worth a look in the 16-bit era.
In a style very reminiscent of games like Jet Set Willy, your character must traverse a number of static screens to progress, and each screen is self-contained: enemies on one screen do not enter the next screen. Furthermore, you can throw balls to destroy the enemies, and they will not then respawn if you enter the screen again, while other enemies will reset their movement. There is a very particular combination of actions that will guide you through each screen, so practice makes perfect.

This came so close to being a six-time appearance, but clearly, even though it stayed around the bottom of the list most years, someone at Amiga Power couldn't resist the nostalgic appeal of this one. I must say it's fun if you were raised on ZX Spectrum games just like it, though you can't just go through it any which way: there is a route you have to take, so it reminds me of Rick Dangerous in that regard. Not the most jaw-dropping game in here, but it's earned its place.
