Honourable Mention 5
Assassin
Given 89% by Matthew Squires, who called it "Team 17's finest moment yet", reviewed in November 1992, thus making it eligible for four of the Top 100 lists... why was it overlooked? It's a mystery, but given that review, and the fact that it's exclusive to the Amiga, I had no problem with choosing it in my Honourable Mentions. You control the titular assassin, armed with a short-range boomerang weapon, and with the ability to scale walls and climb across ceilings. This manoeuvrability is key to getting through levels in the relatively limited time you have, though you must be careful not to fall too far. There are a number of levels, with boss battles, and various power-ups to help you in your mission.
I had to play with ECS instead of OCS (so an Amiga 600 not 500) due to graphical glitches, so I figured it's worth mentioning. It took me a few attempts to get through the first level, and learning the layout of levels is pretty important - knowing where the enemies and power-ups are located make it much easier to get through, and the time limit means you do need to get a move on. It's interesting, and once you get the hang of it, it's pretty good, so if you like games like Switchblade II, this is certainly another one to try.
