Gravity-Force 2
1995: 2

The highest-ranked game that was exclusive to the 1995 list, it could hardly have been chosen previously due to it being quite a late release, but to go from the heady heights of second place all the way to nothing the following year sounds like quite a surprise. In fact, it's quite simple: the number two in 1996 was Gravity Power, the sequel to this game. Still, let's see what makes this one different.
It's a split-screen game where two players face off in space ships with Thrust-style control. Each ship is armed with both a rapid-firing gun and a special weapon, and the choice of weapon, like almost everything in the game, is highly configurable. There are many different levels to play in, endless adjustments to the gameplay - the only big thing missing is any sort of single-player option, as there is no computer AI available to control your opponent.

Here we go with another of the few games in the list that don't have any one-player mode at all, something you do get with public domain games (good AI is a chore to program, I imagine). Since I have no way to play extensively with another human, I'll just have to assume that it's a fun experience, though I have to say that putting both this and its sequel in second place in the Amiga Power list is a bit ridiculous - showing later lists were often governed by how much fun they had in the office together.
