Clearly the Amiga Power boys thought Lemmings 2 was a significant improvement over its predecessor, given that they replaced it in the list once it had been released. History doesn't remember it quite as fondly, however, so it's interesting to find out why.
Lemmings 2 has a very similar premise to the first game, in that you have to give your Lemmings various tasks in order to guide as many as possible to safety. The game differs in that it includes a story of a dozen Lemmings tribes, and you have numerous new tasks to give them. Unlike the first game, not all of those tasks are available in every level, meaning you have to become acquainted with a wider array of jobs and use what few you have available. One more difference is that Lemmings can now fall further than previously, becoming momentarily stunned at certain heights, and only dying from extreme falls.

I should probably give this more of a chance, because my first reaction wasn't the best: what I liked about Lemmings was that you always had the same tasks to use, in varying amounts, but this one forces you to get to know more jobs for your Lemmings. Of course, I probably just need to get more familiar with them all and it'll become much more interesting, and it still provides hours of challenge.
