Once in a while comes a game that really makes you sit up and take notice, not due to flashy effect, but due to the madness involved in it. Welcome to Wizkid.

You are a small green ball called Wizkid, and the basic premise, at least at the beginning, is to bang into various objects to force them into the path of enemies, knocking them out. There are notes to collect and cats to rescue, but the game moves into different genres as it progresses, and the whole thing is done with such charm and humour that it's hard to ignore it.

I got the hang of it pretty quickly, and although it's a relatively simple concept, at least at first, it's done so well that it's fun to play. I haven't ventured far enough to see what happens when Wizkid gets a pair of legs and so on, but I'm sure it's worth finding out.
